RAWR!

What up players. Tomorrow is so Thanksgiving it's not even funny. HA. I just wrapped up the 36th graphic for the SpokenThreads Spring 2009 Catalog! It's been ridiculously awesome/busy/crazy lately...I mean it's only been a day or two since I finished the final design and we're already moving into catalog photo shoots later this week. So pumped!

I also finished another painting. I just can't stop picturing a long-armed bear constantly feeling out his entire environment. The exploration. The journey. Knee-pads included.

I also wanted to share this little excerpt from my sketchbook with awl yawl. Click it to make it bigger, or if you're lazy, it basically says all the different hand-motions that occur during a conversation should be put in a tub of water, detergent, and dirty laundry and get to work. Makes sense to me.

Happy Holidays.

Seriously.

Scope the Scene

I was in Tallahassee, Florida for a day and got at least one placement up! This curious bird is about four feet tall (biggest one yet!) and I spent a lot of time trying to find the perfect perch so he could curiously stare down on everyone. Just watchin'. Click these to make em bigger, it's worth it!
"We Know You Know"

It's four stories above a pretty decent flow of traffic *somewhere* in Tallahassee. I mean I'm pretty much liable to give that bird something constantly interesting to gaze down on. What if I attached you to a fence? Now you see what I'm saying...it better be in a darn interesting location.

I also met an extremely talented illustrator that just graduated from RISD on my adventure in Tally. If you don't check Jennifer Kindell's website out, I don't know what you're doing with your life. I don't even WANT to know. Just go take a look!

I also found three HUGE pieces of cardboard measuring 6'x5' each. You don't even want to know what I have planned. Check back soon ya dig?

All It Takes

Back to placements! I painted this badger as he collected his thoughts while twirling a leaf. It's a good 3 feet tall, so this is my biggest placement yet, even if it's still below eye level. He likes it down there anyway.

A few really nice people saw me wedging it into the fence and offered to put it in the window of their storefront. Although it was an (awesome!) friendly gesture, I told them the ephemeral aspect of leaving it out in the open was really important to me.

I also love how the ivy is trickling down the fence; almost like he picked a leaf directly from the vine and sat down against the fence post to think about things.

Things.

Edit: (11/11/08) I just went back to check up on it and someone already took it! If you snagged it let me know!

Realize Real Eyes

Here are a few collages I did today. I haven't been that active with placements because I'm working extra hard for SpokenThreads! By the way, I checked up on the Purslane in the shoe and it's growing like crazy. I'll get up pics when it gets so ridiculously big I won't even believe it.
